The Platte Valley Fire Protection District
currently operates out of one primary fire station that is located a
207 First Street between Clark and Campbell Streets in the heart of
Kersey, Colorado.
All apparatus, equipment, administrative offices,
and volunteer rescue gear are housed in the station as well as being the
sole location for all District trainings, meetings, and special events.
The 1.5 story building was built entirely by district
volunteers starting in 1976 and ending with completion in 1978.

This primary station currently has five back-in bays
for apparatus, a truck maintenance pit, a water storage reservoir, a newly
renovated kitchen and meeting room, administrative offices, dayroom for
families, and a half story area dedicated for storage.
In addition to having numerous functional uses,
the station was also designed as the city's civil defense shelter. The
PVFPD station is self sufficient with an in-house diesel generator and
is constructed of concrete and steel capable of withstanding natural
disasters such as a tornado, as well as the shockwave and fallout from
a nuclear strike.

Looking into the Future...

Since 1978, this Primary Station has served the District and the community.
Due to funds provided by an Energy Impact Grant in 2006, the District was
able to renovated the meeting/training room, kitchen, offices and add an ADA bathroom. This was
not only to provide a safer facility to the volunteers, but to be able to make the station one
that all in the community can use.
We truly believe that the the future holds many changes for the Platte
Valley Fire Protection District, but that the past holds the knowledge needed to continue.
The Platte Valley Fire Station will continue to represent the soul of the community that came
together to provide a needed service to protect those who reside within the District.
